Congratulations to Chanhassen Boot Camp Member Cathy Akehurst for WINNING the 2011 Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge!
Well, we’ve wrapped up another successful Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge, and once again, I’m super-excited to announce another amazing Challenge Champion.
You know, when I first came up with the Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge I was thinking of a fun way to help people stay in shape during the tough fall months. So many folks work really hard at getting in shape for summer only to blow it as soon as school starts in September…
First, they get caught up in the end of summer vacations.
Then, it’s all about getting the kids back into their school routines.
Before you know it, the holiday season, with all it’s excuses, is here.
Sadly, fitness tends to take a back seat during the latter part of the year. No wonder, it’s common for people to gain as much as 15 pounds in the last quarter of the year. YIKES!
The Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge is a fun way to implement some friendly competition during this “difficult time” of year – the winner gets an entire year of Chanhassen Boot Camp FREE! Now that’s a great way to get a group of people motivated to work extra hard to achieve some great weight loss and fitness results…
And, it has worked fantastically for the last 3 years.
This year’s winner is an incredibly special woman that has been a Chanhassen Boot Camp member for 2 years.Cathy Akehurst is one of the nicest, most caring, and most giving people I’ve ever met. Her transformation was fantastic, but her story is even better.
During the 10 week Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge Cathy lost almost 15 pounds, and took 3.5 inches off both her waist and thigh! Yeah; pretty remarkable. But what makes it even more special is reading Cathy’s story…
This was my second Chanhassen Boot Camp Back-to-School Transformation Challenge, and it was just as much fun and motivating as my first challenge. Last year I had some pretty good results by losing 4% body fat in the 10 weeks, and as of writing this I am not sure of the final results but am proud of how hard I have worked.
The programs that Justin offers are exactly what I need to keep pushing myself, continue learning and to stay motivated. Now, as good as all Justin’s programs may be, so much of my inspiration comes from all of the other Chanhassen Boot Camp members. It is the friendships and comaraderie that makes this so fun and rewarding. It is the other members who ask where I was if I had to miss, tell me I can lift more weights if they think I can do more and have become my walking buddies after class to get that extra calorie fat burn! – which has helped a lot during this challenge!
Another thing I admire about Justin and his programs is his love of sharing his knowledge. And, because of this I am continually learning about why we are doing the exercises we are doing and so much about nutrition from supplements to protein and why we it and the right ratio of protein and carbs, especially after our workouts and so much more!
These short but very high intensity workouts can fit into most anybody’s day. I have four daughters – the three older ones are all either just finished or finishing up college so are in and out of the house and I have a 7 year-old grandson in our home who is such a joy but also helps keep us busy. My youngest daughter, Courtney, is 19 and needs 24 hour care and requires a person to be strong and energetic. I have always loved exercising like walking, hiking, biking and group classes but had never really done any strength training. So, a couple of years ago I was really praying for some help because I was not feeling strong and Courtney was getting much stronger than me which made it harder to care for her. Then I found one of Justin’s fliers at my chiropractor’s office and signed up. I have gotten much stronger and have lots of energy which I need for my family, especially my youngest daughter, and also for my job which is working with other people with disabilities 5-6 evenings a week and weekends. I recently had an appointment with a homeopathic practitioner who when done with our initial consult and lots of conversation said I was very healthy and would contribute the majority of that to my exercising – so just another reason to exercise!
So, again, what has helped me find the most success during these 10 weeks have been really working on sticking to eating clean with lots of protein, cutting out most starchy carbs, making it to class 5 times a week with some extra workouts on my own, and walking with friends after class for the extra calorie fat burn which is fun but also so beneficial. The best part for me – of course besides losing some weight – has been the friendships. Every single one of you makes these hard-core workouts so much fun! So, together we can all become healthier, stronger, thinner and more fit and have a blast doing it!!
Thanks Justin and every other member of Fitness Revolution who inspire me to keep on going!!!

I am so happy for Cathy and so are the rest of the Chanhassen Boot Camp members at Fitness Revolution.
